How to Shoot RAW Photos on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max

The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro are all about their improved camera performance. Apple has finally managed to catch up to the likes of the Pixel 3 and Galaxy Note 10+ in terms of camera performance with its iPhone 11 lineup. If you are a photographer though or know the technicalities of the photography world, you can extract even more from the iPhone 11’s camera by shooting photos in RAW.

By shooting RAW photos, you will have greater control over the final image output as you will have a greater degree of control to tweak the ISO, exposure, and colors. The resulting photo might not necessarily have more details but you can manipulate it as you like.

The good thing is that even though the stock iOS Camera app does not allow one to capture RAW photos, there are plenty of apps on the App Store that makes it possible. Follow the guide below to know how you can capture RAW photos on your iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro.
Limitations of Shooting RAW Photos on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro

The stock Camera app on the iPhone does not have the ability to shoot RAW photos, we will be using a third-party camera app from the App Store called Halide ($5.99).

For this guide, I am using Halide — a popular camera app for iPhones, though you can use almost any other app on the store as well.

You can only shoot RAW photos from the primary 12MP and the telephoto sensor. The new 12MP ultra-wide angle sensor does not support RAW capture.
How to Shoot RAW Photos on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro

Step 1: Open the Halide camera app on your iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro. If you are opening the app for the first time, go through its tutorial and then give it all the necessary permissions.

Step 2: Swipe up on the arrow you see on the action bar above the camera shutter button. This should expose a row of useful options where you will see a RAW icon. Tap on it after which any photo you click on your iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro will be saved in RAW/DNG format.

To make things easier for sharing purposes, Halide saves a processed image along with the RAW version of every photo you take. This will allow you to easily share the photo right after capturing it while also offering greater flexibility for editing later on.

In case you do not like Halide, check out some other noteworthy camera apps on the App Store which also support RAW capture. Remember that the same set of limitations mentioned above also apply to them.

Editing RAW Photos on iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro

Capturing RAW photos on your iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro is just one part of the equation. You don’t really need to transfer the photos to your PC to edit it. You can process it right on your iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro. Adobe’s own Lightroom and Photoshop suite of apps are available for iPhones on the App Store. My recommendation, however, is to download Snapseed — a photo-editing app from Google. It is a free app that offers a plethora of image editing and processing options. Also Read:free Anti-Spyware Apps

Also, remember that RAW photos taken from your iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro will not offer the same level of flexibility in post-processing as a typical RAW photo taken from a DSLR.

Apple’s Discontinued Airport Express, Extreme, and Time Capsule Get Firmware Security Update

Apple’s AirPort lineup was discontinued last year. However, the company is still supporting the devices and has now rolled out the firmware security update (7.8.1). Airport Express, Extreme, and Time Capsule Base Stations have already received the security update. The update is meant for all 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations.

It is good to see Apple keeping up to their promise and updating the discontinued AirPort devices. Apple has not revealed the update specifics but claims that it improves the security of all 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations. The AirPort was previously updated to version 7.7.9 in December 2017.

AirPort and Time Capsule users can update by using AirPort Utility in macOS. The tool will automatically scan for an update and it will be installed upon approval. Apple decided to discontinue the AirPort WiFi router in April last year. It was later learned that Apple had pulled the shutters on the AirPort division and reassigned the employees to other divisions.

“Firmware update 7.8.1 improves the security of your base station and is recommended for all Apple 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations including AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule”

Apple has also announced a new HomePod security feature meant for safeguarding third-party routers. If you need help updating the AirPort’s firmware, please refer to the support document. After disbanding the AirPort, Apple started selling Linksys Velop Mesh WiFi System on its store.

Charter and Comcast Required to Sell iPads and Apple TVs as Part of Deal to Sell iPhones

Apple’s position in the smartphone industry allows it to extract the best deal while negotiating with small carriers and retailers. A CNBC report highlights such cases in which Comcast and Charter as a part of their agreement with Apple to sell iPhones were also required to sell a large number of other Apple devices.

Comcast offers a MVNO service called Xfinity mobile with a subscriber base of 1.5 million, while Charter’s MVNO has 300,000 subscribers.

Both companies realised that to attract new customers and to offer them a better experience, they need to sell iPhones on their network as well. Coupled with their small size, this gave Apple an advantage in the negotiations.

Comcast agreement with Apple requires it to sell a certain number of iPads — somewhere in thousands — at a subsidised cost. The difference in price would then be borne by Comcast. This agreement was struck between the two companies over two years ago. Comcast sells the 6th generation 9.7-inch iPad for $422.99, while its retail price is $459. The $29.01 difference is then paid by Comcast to Apple.

Apple’s iPad revenue growth began to slow in 2016 and declined on an annualized basis during the first two quarters of 2017, prompting Apple to push the large iPad selling requirement on Comcast, one of the people said.

Charter’s agreement with Apple is slightly different because of its position as the second-largest U.S. cable company. It allows customers to use an Apple TV as a set-top box instead of its own Xfinity X1 box. This helps in the sales of Apple TVs and it is beneficial for customers as well since it offers a better experience than Charter’s own Xfinity X1 box.

As a part of its deal with Apple, Charter sells the Apple TV at $7.50/month to customers for 24 months. That’s the same price as its Xfinity X1 box but the difference is that at the end of 24 months, customers own the Apple TV while Charter will take back the Xfinity box. This deal has proved beneficial for Apple as Charter has become the largest third-party seller of Apple TVs.

While selling iPhone and other Apple devices alongside it has been beneficial for Charter and Comcast, the deal also highlights how Apple uses its position in the industry to squeeze out better deals from smaller players.

Every Jailbreak Tweak Apple Copied in iOS 13

Every Jailbreak Tweak Apple Copied in iOS 13

Apple is known for “Sherlocking” jailbreak tweaks and integrating them into iOS itself and iOS 13 is no exception to Cupertino giant’s usual copying.

iOS 13 is a really feature-packed update, however, not everything you see in the new OS is truly new. A lot of the new and shiny features have been Sherlocked from existing jailbreak tweaks for older iOS versions. In this list, we’ll show you exactly what was copied, and conveniently, how to get those new features on older iOS versions.
Dark mode

Undeniably, the most popular addition to iOS 13 is the support for a system-wide dark mode, however, if you have ever jailbroken your iDevice, you might know that this has been achieved and updated since a very long time ago back in 2014 with the release of Eclipse.

Eclipse is a jailbreak tweak that not only themes Apple’s own apps, it also themes unsupported apps as well, making it actually better than Apple’s own implementation. With Eclipse, you can theme virtually every app just the way you want to, no matter if the App officially supports dark mode or not.

Noctis, which also gained the ability to theme apps, has been the go-to way of getting dark notifications, widgets, control centre and much more. With those two combined, you should get the full dark experience on your iDevice.

Eclipse and Noctis can be found on the Packix repository for 1.50USD and 2USD respectively and support all iOS versions from iOS 7 to iOS 12 (although you need to pick the correct version of the tweak for the coreeco iOS version)
QuickPath

If you’re a fan of swiping instead of typing on your keyboard, you’ll be relieved to hear that Apple has introduced QuickPath to iOS 13. However, this isn’t the first time that iOS users get to enjoy swipe typing. This feature was first introduced on third-party Android keyboards and quickly became popular on iOS with Apple adding support for third-party keyboards. This means you don’t even need to be jailbroken to get this feature on your iPhone right now, with the likes of Gboard and SwiftKey all supporting it right from the App Store.

However, before third-party keyboards became a thing, jailbreaking had to step in and it did with SwipeSelection. There have been numerous different tweaks to introduce this feature to iPhones, but SwipeSelection seems to be the most popular one so we’ll stick with that.

SwipeSelection allows you to use the stock iOS keyboard with swiping support, meaning it’s still being updated in one way or another for modern iOS versions. A version that supports iOS 12 can be found on Bruno Andrade’s repository, with older versions being scattered over different sources.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connection in Control Centre

A nice and lesser talked about new iOS 13 feature is the ability to select WiFi networks and Bluetooth devices directly from the Control Centre. Unsurprisingly, not only is this originally an Android feature that the green platform has been enjoying for many many years (yet Google removed it for some reason in Android Q Beta), it has also been brought to older iOS versions with the help of tweaks.

Actually, this feature is so unbelievably similar, even in terms of the UI, to WeatherVane that it’s hard to believe Apple didn’t just hire the developer behind WeatherVane. The tweak, while being released before iOS 13 was even in the works, now acts as a 1:1 backport of the feature to iOS 11 and 12 devices.

WeatherVane is available for 1USD from the Packix repository.
Unlimited App Size Downloading on Mobile Data

Finally, has Apple unlocked downloads over 200MB over mobile data in iOS 13. Ever since ancient times, back in iPhone OS 2 days, there have been numerous tweaks that have unlocked this stupid restriction Apple set on users. While it may have not been a big deal back in 2008 when Apps were mere megabytes to download, with the ever-increasing app sizes the 200MB limit really started to annoy people. A typical app in 2019 is around 150-300MB in size.

For iOS 12 and 11, there’s a tweak called “Appstore Unrestrict” that does exactly what Apple has done in iOS 13; disable the restrictions. The tweak is completely free and is available from iJulioverne’s legal & private repository.
Download Manager in Safari

For years, people have been begging Apple to add a download manager to iOS and Safari. They finally did with iOS 13, but this is definitely not a feature that has not been seen on iOS previously. Just like with app size download limits over mobile data, this is an ancient thing dating back to iPhone OS days with numerous tweaks having filled the role of a download manager.

For recent iOS versions, Safari Plus may be the best option as it supports iOS versions all the way back to iOS 8, however, you can download Safari Downloader if you’re on an older version.

Safari Plus is an all-in-one gigatweak for Safari, but among its features, there’s a download manager that acts very similarly to Apple’s own implementation. One could argue it’s even better as you can save files anywhere on the filesystem instead of just in the Files app like in iOS 13.

Safari Plus is available for free for iOS 8-12 from the BigBoss default repository.
Third-party Controller Support

A lot of people were excited to hear that Sony’s Dualshock 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One S controllers are now both natively supported in iOS 13 with no strings attached. It’s likely not surprising for you to hear that a huge reason to a lot of people to jailbreak is specifically to add support for unofficial (at least for that iOS version) controllers.Gihosoft RePicvid Free Photo Recovery Software provides a free photo recovery software for windows to help users recover the deleted or lost photo for free.

Shocker, this is yet another feature that has had a plethora of names due to it being such an old concept and being in need of a lot of fo updates, often from different developers as well. The one that comes to mind for more modern jailbreakers is nControl.

A nice thing to note that nControl is still relevant even after iOS 13, as it supports more than just the Dualshock 4 and Xbox One S controllers. If you’re a Nintendo Switch owner, for example, your Pro Controller or Joy-cons can also be connected, something that’s not supported in iOS 13.

nControl is available for iOS 7-12 from the Chariz repository for 10USD, which might seem like a steep price at first, but keep in mind you’re paying for countless months of developing drivers and reverse-engineering Apple’s secure “Made for iPhone” system.
New Volume HUD

If you’re not aware that Apple redesigned the disgusting, 12-year-old volume HUD in iOS 13, then what are you even doing here? A lot of people have commented that the only reason they still jailbreak is because of the annoying volume HUD in pre-iOS 13 firmware. Guess, what? This has been tweaked beyond infinity, in so many different ways, and with so many different developers that it’s practically impossible to tell who and what was first.

For a shameless plug, Melior aims to bring an Android-inspired volume HUD to iOS, while strictly and closely following Apple’s own design philosophy (for the stock theme lovers, this is the thing to get). It’s entirely free from SparkDev’s Beta Repository and should be compatible with everything from iOS 7 up to iOS 12.

However, to be fair and honest, the author of this article (yes, that’s right, it’s Dennis here) designed Melior. Just be aware of that.

That’s why we’re mentioning yet another terrific volume HUD replacement called UltraSound, which is much more customisable than Melior. It’s filled with nice animations and even an OLED mode, however, you’ll need to shell out 3USD (that’s just a coffee, don’t be greedy) for the privilege. It’s available for iOS 11 and 12 from the Dynastic Repository.
Conclusion

To wrap up, Apple is known for Sherlocking ideas from the jailbreak community, however, the more jailbreak tweaks Apple implements into stock iOS, the fewer people that will have to wait for months for a custom volume HUD. For every feature Apple copies from jailbreak tweaks, it’s a person less that feels the need to jailbreak, and that could arguably be a good thing.

Remember how you had to wait half a year just to add that stupid text on your Lock screen? Exactly. So, embrace those features making its way into stock iOS. It’s beneficial for almost all of us.

What do you think? Any tweaks we’ve missed? Let us know in the comments below.

iOS 13 Lets You Delete Apps Right From the Update List

In iOS 13 and iPadOS, Apple has added a new way to delete apps from your device right from the App Store.

When you're updating apps on your phone, or viewing apps that were recently updated, you can swipe left on any app in the list to bring up a "Delete" option.

Tapping on delete brings up the standard app deletion interface, where you can confirm the app's deletion or select the cancel option.

The option to delete apps right from the App Store is a convenient way to get rid of unwanted apps as soon as you see them, without the need to leave the App Store, hunt down the app's icon, and remove it that way as was necessary in prior versions of iOS.

How to Take a Screenshot on Your iPad

Knowing how to take a screenshot on your iPad can come in handy for all sorts of reasons. Whether you want to capture a snapshot of video, or give someone a preview of a project you're working on, taking a picture of your screen is extremely easy to do.

The following method works for all iPads with a Home button, so that's iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro (2017 models and earlier). If your iPad doesn't have a Home button – if it's a 2018 iPad Pro, for example – the way to take screenshots is a little different, as explained here.

To capture a screenshot, press and hold the Sleep/Wake (on/off) button on the top of your iPad and quickly click the front-facing Home button at the bottom of the screen, then release both buttons.

Pressing the Sleep/Wake button first reduces the chance of accidentally activating Siri, but once you get the knack of taking a screenshot, you can press both buttons at the same time.

You'll know straight away if you've successfully taken a screenshot: your iPad's screen will flash briefly, and if the audio is enabled, you'll hear a camera shutter sound. You'll also see the screenshot shrink into the bottom-left corner of the screen.

If you do nothing, the captured shot will slide out of view after a few seconds and be saved to your Camera Roll in the Photos app. However if you tap the shot, you'll enter Instant Markup mode, where you can crop the shot, annotate it with writing tools, share it, or delete it. For more information on using Instant Markup mode, click here.

Import Photos from Your SD Card to Mac

You're on vacation and you take a ton of great photos with your camera. Upon returning home, your SD card is full and you're itching to share your photos with your friends. Luckily, Apple's Photos app makes importing your photos to the Mac easy; all you need to do is plug your SD card into your computer and follow a few simple steps.

In this tutorial we'll show you how to import photos from your camera's SD card to your Mac including macOS High Sierra using the Photos app. This tutorial does not require any additional software, but does require a Mac with an SD card slot or a USB SD card reader.
Importing Photos from Your SD Card to Mac

1.Insert your SD card into the SD card reader on your Mac.

2.Open the Photos app on your Mac.

3.Look at the sidebar on the left-hand side of the screen. Locate the Import heading at the top of the sidebar. Underneath this heading will be your SD card's name; click on it.

4.If your SD card doesn't show up in the sidebar, look at the upper left-hand corner of your Mac's screen. Click File from the toolbar and Import from the drop-down menu. A Finder pop-up window will appear. Find your SD card and select the images you want to import by clicking on them. Also Read:10 Websites to Watch Indian Live Television

5.All of the photos on your SD card will now appear at the center of your Photos window. Take a look at the upper right-hand corner of the screen where you will see three buttons: Import All New Items, Import Selected, and Delete After Import.

Like its name suggests, the Import All New Items button will import all photos on your SD card that haven't already been imported to your computer. The second option—Import Selected—will import only the photos you've selected; you can select images by clicking on them.

Finally, to clear up space on your SD card, check the box next to the Delete After Import option. When turned on, your photos will be erased from your SD card after being imported to your Mac.

Tip: If you're signed into iCloud on your Mac, your photos will be automatically uploaded to iCloud with no further interaction on your end. They will appear on all devices linked with your iCloud account.

Google Fit is Now Available on iOS

Apple is going all-in with health features in its mobile products, especially with the Apple Watch. But Google isn’t giving up on that market anytime soon. The company has its own effort, Google Fit, and it’s just been made available for iOS devices.

On Wednesday, Google officially announced that Google Fit is now available on iOS. It will allow iPhone owners to track their Heart Points and Move Minutes. It’s also available on the iPad as well. Google notes that apps that connect to Apple Health, including Nike Run Club, will also sync with Google Fit.

It also works with an Apple Watch (and a Wear OS smartwatch as well).

“Apps you connect to Apple Health, such as Sleep Cycle, Nike Run Club and Headspace, sync with Google Fit to provide a holistic view of your health and show the Heart Points and Move Minutes you earn through other activities. And whether you own an Apple Watch or Wear OS by Google smartwatch, Google Fit keeps track of your workout sessions. With your journal, you’ll get a snapshot of the things that you do to help you get better sleep, be more mindful and get more active.”

Google Fit is a free download. You can find a link to the app below. And while most Apple device owners are probably already using Apple Health to track their progress on a regular basis, it’s always good to have another option out there.
